Why Choose Pure Cotton For Your Bedding & It's Health & Sleep Benefits
Why should I spend more money for my teen on pure cotton when I can get something cheaper?
I’m not buying my teenage boy expensive cotton bedding set, when he is so disgusting & just falls asleep in his full rugby kit!!!
Does cotton wash well as I don’t want to spend money on a bedding set which deteriorates in the wash?
These are frequent questions and comments I get when speaking to potential customers. And I get it! Buying bedding for your teenager, when it costs more than what you can buy on the high street, doesn’t make sense, especially when some (not all) don’t care, don’t look after it and well quite frankly probably wouldn’t notice the difference.
Well it does make sense! We all know from research and for many of us, personal experience, that getting a good night sleep is essential for physical and mental wellbeing. Being able to function to your best ability, is crucial and comes from a balance of sleep, eating well, exercise & self-care.
So why should you buy cotton and not synthetic or even a mix.
Here is a breakdown of why cotton is best for you & your children.
Breathability and Temperature Regulation:
Cotton is a natural, breathable fabric that allows air to circulate, helping to regulate body temperature throughout the night. This means it can absorb moisture and sweat, keeping you cool and dry in warmer months and warm without overheating in cooler months.
Softness and Comfort:
Indian cotton, is world renowned for producing the softest cotton which feels comfortable & soothing against the skin. This can be particularly beneficial for those with sensitive skin (and children), as cotton is less likely to cause irritation or itchiness. Cotton is naturally hypoallergenic, meaning it is less likely to trigger allergies or skin sensitivities. Although I do always advise to wash your new bedding before use.
And due to the way cotton is woven, things like dust mites, mould etc cannot sit in the fabric. Your cotton bedding creates a barrier between you and your mattress, duvet and pillows, protecting you. Breathability of cotton also means bacteria typically won’t grow in it.
Durability:
Cotton is made from a natural fibre and it is a durable fabric, meaning that cotton bedding can last for a long time even when its being regularly put through the wash. Cotton can last up to twice as long as man made fibres, meaning, although you might pay more upfront, it will make it up with longevity!
Sustainable:
Because it’s natural, it will biodegrade a lot faster than other, manmade materials.
So, if you are in the process of looking for new bedding for yourself or your teenager, do take into consideration, the short and long term benefits of spending that little bit more for a healthier product because in the long run it will give you more back for your physical, mental health and in fact be more cost effective because of the years of use you will get out of it.
